The Philadelphia Flyers Fan Club will be collecting coupons for the military families who are stationed overseas. These families can redeem national brand coupons at the military commissaries up to six months after they expire. As these are generally young families, baby product coupons are especially appreciated. When the various organizations receive the coupons, they either distribute them to the families or place them in coupon exchange boxes. Also please keep in mind the following: Please do not send any store- or restaurant-specific coupons as the commissaries do not have the stores and restaurants; Please clip all of the coupons that you send us as we do not have the manpower to do them all; and also Please be careful when you clip the coupons that you do not cut off any important information such as the expiration date, the bar code, and the information in small print (that is directed to the store itself).
COUPON FOR OVERSEAS TROOPS UPDATE
As the program that I have been using has changed its format, we have now adopted 6 bases. They are Ansbach, Germany; Osan, Korea; Lakenheath, U.K.; Rota, Spain; Sigonella, Sicily; and Yokosuka, Japan. The first four are bases that we have been sending our coupons, and the other two are new bases for us to send our coupons. We have received a thank you postcard from the Rota, Spain base: “On behalf of the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, I would like to thank you for our continued support to our society with the donations of coupons to our office. You are providing a wonderful community service and our Rota military families greatly appreciate having the coupons available to save money on a day to day basis. Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones.” Unfortunately, we did recently receive a letter from the Ansbach, Germany base stating that we should forward our coupons to another base. Therefore, we currently have 5 bases to send our coupons to. I also have recently found out that we can send our coupons in a big box instead of the envelopes that I have been using and saving us money in postage. I have sent out 2 of the boxes so far. What I put in the two boxes would normally be about 14 envelopes saving us over $40.00 in postage.
From 1 August 2006 to 21 February 2007, we have sent 31 packages totaling $38,655.25. Before adopting the bases, we sent 4 packages to Japan, Korea, Italy, and Guan. Since we have adopted bases, we have sent 6 packages to Ansbach, Germany; 5 to Osan, Korea; 6 to Lakenheath, U.K.; 4 to Rota, Spain; 3 to Sigonella, Sicily; and 3 to Yokosuka, Japan. Our total since the beginning (8/1/03) is $141,793.30. Thanks to everyone who has helped with this project.
